Audio Systems: lost am fm reception, antenna cable, fm reception

Question
I have a 1995 camaro with the factory car stereo with a cd player. The radio turns on and the cd player works but I lost reception for am and fm, all that I get is static? Can you help me out with this problem?

Hello Tim,
Try this simple test, purchase a cheap antenna at Radio Shack or walmart. If possible, reach up under the dash and unplug the original antenna from the radio and plug in the new antenna (you may need to pull out the radio from the dash) hold up the new antenna outside the car and tune to a known good station. If the stations come in then you will know that you need a new antenna. Does your Camaro have a fender mounted antenna or is it built into the front windshield? Also depending on the model of this radio it may have a mini plug on the antenna cable.
