Audio Systems: Blowing Fuses, Proper Wiring, holden barina, pioneer radio

Question
Hi Cody,
I have recently installed a new pioneer radio into my 93' Holden Barina. Although the job was a success and the system sounds fine, i blew two blade-15 fuses in the process and had to replace them. could you please tell me why this happened and how it can be prevented. thanks
Also, i have used wiring covers on the front and rear speakers but at the back of the stereo i was unsure as to how i could firmly hold all the wires in place. they are temporarily twirled around the terminals, although they are secure and the sound is great i feel there is a better/safer way to do this. is it fine the way it is or should i solder them into place?

Answer
Frank,

more than likly what happend with the fuses is you didnt disconnect your battery during the install and it gave some feedback through the system and caused the fuses to blow , if you want to prevent this just disconnect the battery next time to make sure.. about the splicing of the wires i alsways solder mine but you can use a basic splice and wrap the connections with some good electrical tape or liquid tape works good to ... hope this helps you out if you need anything else let me know

thanks
