Audio Systems: no music, mitsubishi galant, galant

Question
i was wondering if you could help me out.  i drive a 1996 mitsubishi galant the stereo in it is a jvc and is not the car stereo but it was installed i am guessing (i am the 2nd owner).  well now the stereo is not working, the display shows the time or what  station it is turned to but no music comes out no matter how high i put the volume.  please help i don't really know much at all about cars and i need music, well if you can help that would be great.  thank you!

The problem may be with the internal audio output amps in the stereo itself. You may also want to look to see if the previous owner installed an amp, possibly in the trunk of your car. If you do find an amp, it might not be working and therefore no sound.
