Motorcycle Repair: Reverse Problems with Atv, yamaha kodiak 400, roger thompson

Question
I was wondering if you could help with a problem I have? I have a 1994 Yamaha Kodiak 400 I have just replaced the rear brakes and it will not go into reverse now, do I have to adjust the brakes now i have replaced them, as I am sure you know you cannot select reverse unless the brake is pressed. Any advice you have would be very welcome, thanks in advance.

Answer
Roger,Once tou have adjusted the brakes you will need to adjust the reverse locking cable that is pulled when you push down on the foot pedal. There is a seperate cable that comes off the back of the foot pedal pivot and the cable goes up to the shifter base and is a lock that pulls out of a divot in the shifter so it can go into reverse. Adjust it so it pulls the locking pin when the pedal is depressed, this should work.
