Audio Systems: Blown Amp Question PLEASE, ground cables, work bench

Question
I bought an amazing amp. Just after warranty it blew. I dont have the money to buy one and i thought it would be fun to fix it.
Problem; Install amp right. Tried 3 car just in case. All wiring was perfect.
-Turn key on blow's the fuse right away. Doesnt even give a chance to fire up.
What i think happened; My old car i didnt know had a leak in the trunk. I think a very small amount of watter got on top of the amp.
What happened?; Turned it on worked then it crackled alot. Pulled over then fuse blew. I put my spare in. Blew to!

Please help me cody that would be really great.

i dont recommend ripping into an amp unless you are experienced with electronics even i wouldnt feel confident trying to solve a problem "internally" on an amplifier or even a stereo its a whole differnt field from installing.. but what it sounds like is the unit is grounding out .. the watter damage could been the cause for shorting a board inside the unit out and causeing it to ground out try putting a larger fuse in the amp like 30 or 40 amp .. if the amp blows a high ampre fuse you better toss it because you will end up walking out and finding your car in a pile of ashes in your driveway i have personally seen amplifiers that have shorts burst the power/ground cables into flames in the snap of a finger ... now if you want to keep tryin with the unit in hopes of fixing it do it in a controlled setting such as a work bench with a car battery and some old power cables this way if it does catch flame you wont hurt anything major and it will be away from anything else flamable.. now for my best advice is wait until you get some extra cash and go buy a new unit.. you can pick up a great amp for under 100 bucks depending on what you need i recommend power accustik they make a great performing amp for a sweet price also check out etronics.com that is where i buy almost all of my components from .. hope this helps you out if you need anything else just let me know

thanks
