Audio Systems: Poor Radio Reception, poor radio reception, jeep cherokee

Question
1994 Jeep Cherokee, original equipment am/fm cassette stereo.
I have owned this car since it was new.  Recently, the radio went from working fine to getting very poor reception.  I now can only receive a few very local stations--AM or FM.  Can this be as simple as a problem with the antenna?  How would I check that?  Or, is it likely something in the radio itself.  Assuming a problem with the radio, how do I remove the radio to replace or have it repaired?

Thank you.

Answer
Hello Gary,
stop by any local car parts outlet or ever WalMart and pick up a cheap antenna. Reach up under the dash and pull out the existing antenna wire (out of the radio)and plug in the cheap antenna and hold it up in air, if you have good reception now your existing antenna is defective. If this doesn't work, please contact me direct for more info about your radio.
