Audio Systems: Cassette stuck in radio, buick regal gs, buick regal

Question
I have a 1996 Buick Regal GS with a factory installed am/fm/cd/cassette.  I recently bought an XM radio that requires using a cassette in the player to activate the XM through the car speakers.  The cassette is now stuck in the player and won't eject.  When I push the eject button all I get is a whirring or clicking sound and eventually what I believe is an error code of "E13" on the car radio. The XM radio will not play but the car radio will even though it also indicates that a tape is inserted.  How does the radio come out of the car so that I try to get the cassette out or is there a way to release the cassette without removing the radio entirely and taking it apart?

Answer
Hello Jack,
You will need to remove the dash board trim around the radio to gain access to the screws that hold the radio in place. When you have the radio out of the dash, do not pry on the tape deck or you will only do more damage. To remove the stuck tape without damage to the tape adapter or to the tape deck you will need to manually turn the load gears in reverse to back the tape out of the deck.
