Audio Systems: Audio quits when Engine starts, lx 20, constant power

Question
Radio and CD Player works, when switch is turned on. WHEN THE ENGINE STARTS, THEY BOTH QUIT.
Can not figure out. Need help.
1992 Cougar lx. 20,000 miles.

Roger,
This should be about right.  When the car starts, the starter can draw quite a bit of current (one of the reasons the battery has to be so big in first place).  Is this a new problem, or did you install a new radio in the car?  I suspect that if you installed a new radio, it isn't wired correctly.  The radio should have a constant power (gets power all the time, so that the radio presets don't get erased when you turn the car off) and a switched power (so that the radio doesn't stay on when you turn the car off).  If you have the constant power and switched power wired wrong, when you start the car it will shut the radio off.
