Audio Systems: Acura Vigor Radio, acura vigor, radio plays

Question
I have a 1992 Acura Vigor GLS.  The stereo has the DSP feature and I have the code to unlock the radio.  The radio plays but the display is blank.  On rare occasions the display will light up but 99.9% of the time it is blank.

Is there a common part that fails and are the parts readily available?

I have been in the electronics repair field for many years and I'm quite capable with a soldering iron.

Answer
Hello Bob,
Many times when I have a radio with no or intermittent display, I find defective solder connections on the display board.  On some models the circuit uses a DC to DC converter to step up the 12 supply (basically)so that the display will light up. You may want to try pulling the radio slightly out of the dash and with the radio turned on, lightly tap on the outside case to see if the display will light up. If the display does light up then you will know that a defective connection is the problem.
