Audio Systems: installing a stereo, factory wiring harness, nissan micra

Question
Hi Tom, wonder if you could help me please. My girlfriend has a "H" Reg nissan micra and with this she has the standard factory radio built in.
For christmas i bought her a JVC system for her car. The only problem is... i'm not sure how simple it would be to replace. Would i have a problem removing the old radio? I think i would be able to do the rest, once i get the old 1 out.

Thanking you in advance,

craig

Answer
Hello Craig,
The installation will be easy if you can find an adapter plug that will plug into the JVC and then plug onto the factory wiring harness in the car's dash. However if you cannot find an adapter that is ready made you can purchase an adapter that the factory plug in the car's wiring harness will plug onto, this wire adapter will have pig tail wires on it. With these pig tail wires you can splice the JVC wires on to them and then fasten the new radio into the dash. The factory radio should be easy to remove. The trim around the factory radio will either have screws holding it on to the dash board or the trim will snap away from the dash board.  If you need Tech Help in the future please feel free to contact me direct at: tdeser@zoominternet.net
