Audio Systems: Sub Amp Install, haynes repair manuals, porsche cayenne

Question
Thanks Cody,

I love the car too.. But I am such a do it yourself kinda guy, and enjoy trying to figure it out. But trust me I wont even pull a fuse until I know exactly what I am doing how to do it. On my last car (2000 Escalade) I installed a panasonic head unit, and rewired it tp still use the onstar, three amps, 15 speakers, and ran new wires for everything. I can manage once I get the right diagrams and info. Any idea on how I could access the wire scematics? I tried everywhere but no help for porsche..

Hi,

I recently bought a 2004 porsche cayenne s. I like the car, but think the factory installed Bose stereo navigation leaves something to be desired. I was wondering if you could tell me a good way of replacing the current factory installed Bose 5" subwoofer in the back with a 12" sub and amp. I am pretty proficient with the amp install and sub setup, but wanted to know how I could use the current Bose Sub output.

Thanks,

Sami

Sami,

Porsche wow excellent choice i seen the cayenne on car and driver a while back sharp ride ... if i could afford one i wouldnt even want myself to work on the stereo haha =) no but honestly i have no experience with anything like that and have no idea of how to wire into and use the resources to enhance your sound.. my best tip would be let a high end professional do your install one that is familer with porsche and other top dollar systems , i have worked with bose but nothing to that scale and i wouldnt want to tell you anything that could mess up your setup.. sorry i cant help you out but if you are set on doing it yourself get as much information about the car and wire schematics normally haynes repair manuals have a great source for these along with all kinds of useful pictures and infor on about anything but i dont know if they cover such vehicles but you should check on it i have a small resource page for wiring up subs that might help you with any wiring you might have of subwoofers

hope this gets you a little bit closer to your goal sorry i cant do more

thanks

Sami,

sweet i love escalades i have a 2001 Z28 thats my speed puppy i've sunk more money in it than i paid for my blazer with haha .. but i live to do it myself and you sound very knowledged about it , if you rewired and used onstar thats complicated !! i feel you on always wanting to know what you are doing first hand i have a repair manual for every vehicle i own they are a great tool to have in your shop !! , i mainly deal with GM i have the Z , a 01 Xtreme S10 and my off roader 98 blazer and when i wanted dealer specific info i called the customer assistance line so try giving porsche a ring see if they can get you the diagrams or tell you where you might find them .. and try tracking down a repair manual such as Haynes i know they make them for like 911's i seen on amazon so try searching through there.. i'm trying to think of some other resources , you can try porsche website give tech support an email , i worked for crutchfield for a while and i would give anything to have their tech support system they have full schematics , diagrams , dash removal instructs for every car imagined .. hope this helps you out some if there is anything else you need let me know .. a site where i buy most all of my electronics is etronics.com they got a good selection and great price

thanks
