Audio Systems: Car stereo CD player, degree weather, laser pickup

My Prestige Audiovox stereo went berzerk when we had some -20 degree weather. The radio is back to normal, but the CD player is reading an error code which in the manual states "error in laser pick-up position." Is this something relatively minor that I can fix myself and if not, what is involved in fixing it?  Thank you.

Most likely the lense in the laser pick up may have had some dust or dirt on it and when the temp dropped and then the car warmed up inside it may have caused the lense to fog over. This fogging over may have made the dust and dirt all streaky on the lense and the laser cannot focus correctly. You might want to try a CD lense cleaner to see if this helps.
