Audi Repair: audi electrical problem, turn signal switch, left turn signal

Question
last week while driving my 1990 coupe quattro (CQ)i turned on the left turn signal and the signal and the wipers activated.  the wipers and signals, as well as one of the radiator fan settings, are on the same 25 amp fuse.  do you think this is a problem in the steering column multi-switch component?  i put a used one in several years ago because the hi-lo beam switch did not work and that is easy enough to do again if that is the problem.  in the interim, until it is fixed, if i leave the fuse out do i run the risk of overheating the engine? thanks

Answer
Sounds like the turn signal switch is bad again, this could be a contact between the two halves, or possibly a short somewhere.  If the same fuse is controlling a fan, then I would be hesitant to run the car without that duse installed...  Good luck,  Jan
