Chevrolet Repair: 1997 Blazer, chevron techron, mass air flow sensor

Question
Hi,
I have a 1997 Blazer with a 4.3 engine and 4WD. Occasionally when I start the car after driving for at least an half hour the engine has no power. For about 5 seconds it bogs down and seems like it may quit but then starts to run normal. I had a DTC code (P0171)for the mass air flow sensor but I cleaned it and the code has not come back. Any ideas.

Thanks

Answer
I would start by checking fuel pressure. Check for a restricted gas filter.
Fuel injectors clogging have been a problem. Try having the injectors cleaned...there is a bulletin out for that.
You can try adding a bottle of Chevron Techron Plus to the gas tank. Make sure your at about 15 gallons of gas and don't add any more gas until your at 1/8 tank so you don't dilute the cleaner.
I would still be suspect of MAF sensor. Scan the PCM data stream when problem acts up.
Are you using an aftermarket oiled air filter...they have been causing MAF sensor failures.

Hope this helps
