Audi Repair: 1992 Audi 100 Quattro, Getting too hot, audi 100 quattro, engine coolant temperature

Question
Hello Jan! I noticed that my car started getting too hot about 45 days ago. I have noticed that the fan that would always come on when I turned off the engine it is not coming on anymore and I really do not if it is a cooling fan that needs to be replaced. Somebody told me it might be the radiator.  And if it is not too much to ask, My a/c stopped working last year after I took my car to the dealer to have a gas pump replaced. Any clues??  Thank you in advance for your help!

Answer
The engine coolant temperature sensors are notorious for failing, but it sounds like the fan may have failed.  The AC has very little in comon with a gas pump, but it is always possible somebody nudged a wire.  Difficult to diagnose without further details.  You will need to get the fan checked, you can check it by disconnecting and applying 12V in the right place, or just check for 12V voltage at the fan using a bulb.  If you get 12V and the fan does not turn, assume a bad fan motor.  Good Luck,  Jan
