Audi Repair: Air conditioner, cool air, air conditioner

jan, i have a 1999 audi a6. i try to turn the airconditioner on by following the instructions of the book, which states that i should choose a temperature and then press auto. but when i do all i get is the fan blowing hot air. i dont know what to press in order to turn the compressor on. and blow cool air. what could be the problem?

If you have set the temperature to cool, and switched on the fan, and hit auto, then the AC should kick in automatically.  If it does not, there is a problem with the system, possibly low refrigerant.  You will probably need to get the system checked.  Good luck,  Jan
