Audi Repair: Bulb Replacement, audi a6 quattro, fog lamp

Question
I drive a 2001 Audi A6 Quattro, and I need to replace the bulb in the driver side fog lamp.  Please explain how to remove the two piece cover surrounding the lamp assembly, and all other necessary steps to successfully replace the bulb.  I was able to remove the plastic piece directly over the lamp, but I had some trouble removing the larger slatted piece which covers the screws.  As I do not want to damage anything, I thought I would ask how it should be removed.  Thanks in advance for your help.

Answer
Hi,  I normally try to change these from underneath.  You can typically get to the back of the housing once the lower engine splash shield is removed.  But if you want to go in from the front, the slatted pieces normally clip in place, but they typically have one or two securing screws to hold things in place.  The bulb is halogen so do not touch the glass with bare hands or fingers.  Let me know if you need more info; I cannot post pictures but you may be able to find a 'how to' with pictures on the forums like www.audiword.com, www.audizine.com or www.audifans.com.  Let me knonw,  Jan
