Audi Repair: 2000 A8 AC Fan Problem, fan shaft, term fatigue

Question
Appreciate any insights/experience you may have as to how to repair - or is problem so complex that shop time is needed.

The AC Fan (outside, behind HE) has developed a wobble. When car is off/cool, the fan blade can be moved perhaps 5-10 degrees off axis. When running, the fan/motor assembly vibrates and creates interference with fan shroud.

There are no apparent mounting screws for the fan/motor shroud assembly (snap-fit?) and therefore no access to front of fan blade. Blind guess is that there is some fan/shaft mounting screw that is backing out.

Short term this is annoying, but longer term fatigue/fan detach (and HE damage) is concern.

Thanks much in advance.

Answer
hello
what is funny , I was reading your e-mail at work and I had A8 on may lift, so I looked at the car and this one is the same as yours. Latter at the test drive I turn on A/c and fan was making the noise.
We replace many of them on all the models. There is no way to fix it , looks like the bearing just gets loose and where I live -we can't get any internal parts for it so the whole fan with the motor needs to be replace. . The whole thing is hold by clip or screw (on the left , lower side )  once the clip is out , the whole assembly twist about 10-20 mm and comes loose. When you get the new one you will see what I'm talking about. Very easy to replace . On A8 you have more room than on other models.
good luck , Greg
