Hi Jan. My name is sadie i graduated school in 07. I was looking at questions asked by other people and i found my exact question i was going to ask. It was directed to greg but it says he is maxed out. I have never been on this site before but maybe you can help me out. I recently left my lights on in my audi A4 1996 and had to jump it. It sent the computer in safe mode. And the question that someone else asked greg replied he could get the code to fix it. If not i wish to know how much that would cost to fix. Also, my blinkers and headlights went out is that by jumping it also?

If your turn signals and headlights are out, it could be that the load reduction relay has failed.  I'm not sure once the computer has tripped if it is consistently staying in emergency get you home mode, but if not it should re-set when the ignition has been switched off for 10 minutes or so.  If it stays in get you home mode, it is getting a wrong input from a sesnor somewhere.  Are there any codes in the computer?
