Audi Repair: Broken Storage bin next to the ESP Button, metal tabs, storage bin

QUESTION: Hello, Thanks for all the work you do on here.  I have a 2003 Audi A4 1.8t.  The little storge bin that slides open and closed with a touch next to the ESP button is broken. It will not stay closed.  I can slide in and out but it never catches to stay closed.  Hopefully you are familiar with the piece I am talking about.  Any ideas how to fix this?  Thanks in advance

ANSWER: The plastic catch is probably broken.  These things, and the special cup holders, sometimes turn up on ebay.  Let me know what you find,  Jan

QUESTION: Thanks for getting back to me so fast.  So does this piece just pull out? Or do I need to take apart the dast to install a new one?

Normally there are a couple of plastic or metal tabs that hold it in place.  I am currently travelling so cannot check my manuals, also I cannot post pictures.  This may be something you can find described on the forums, perhaps even with pictures.  Try www.audizine.com, www.audifans.com and www.audiworld.com and check out the forums, or aks the question there.
