Audi Repair: 97 audi, audi a4 quattro, audi a4

Question
I wanted to check things out after driving so I lifted up the hood and say that
the coolant was low I forgot it was hot and under pressure. As I unscrewed
the cap it started shooting out I closed it quickly and the coolant dispatched
out threw the bottom after that the check engine light has been on I'm not
sure if it has anything to do with the coolant maybe shorting somethi g out .
FYI the car is an audi a4 quattro v6 2.8l

You did nothing wrong. Many people do this including myself sometimes. Check engine light has nothing to do with it, you will have to check for faults in ECM and find out fault #. Once you get the number of the fault I may be able to help you more. Without the fault nobody will tell you anything.
