Audi Repair: Hi, speed sensor, audi a4

Hi i have a problem with my audi a4 2.8 1996 i cant find my speed sensor which is giving me trouble its not letting my car start.. i had the transmission off to replace the clutch and didnt open the trans but i was wondering if you might have any advice which could help me thanks...

A speed sensor?  The speed sensor is connected to the speedometer, and should have no effect on whether the car starts or not.  It sounds like you may have disconnected the crank position sensor.  Put that back in place, or connect it and your car should start.  Let me know how you get on,  Jan
