Audi Repair: Turn light not working audi A3, audi a3, signal problems

Question
When I tried to use the turn lever, the turn sign blinks once in a while and stops. Sometimes it goes faster and sometimes it does not blink at all. The lights seem OK. I noticed a different posting saying something about the relay switch. The emergency lights work just fine. Just the turn lights that goes crazy. Could that be the relay switch? Is there one for emergency and other for left/right control? Why the emergency lights (and switch) work if it is just one device controlling both systems? Thank you.

Answer
hello
I do not know the year of your car . also in US where I live, we have  A3 only for 3 years. I did not replace or have seen any turn signal problems on A3 yet. But on many older Audis, 4-way flasher(emergency ) switch have 2 relays - one controls emergency lights and second is for turn signals. 90% of  all turn signal problems (just like you desribe) were caused by bad emergency switch. So, if it's a older car I will start with the emergency switch first.
good luck   ,Greg
