Towing Issues: towing my mustang, ford mustang, volunteer board

Question
i have a 1988 ford mustang gt. me and my friend need to tow it to the garage using a tow strap with my friends truck. where should i hook up the strap on my car ?

Answer
well I hate to burst your bubble, but to tell you where to hook a tow strap would be a hard thing to do, as you might not be able to do it where or how I would tell you to do it..

Some straps have hooks, some have loops so each one would be different... Add in the fact that you would want to hook a strong attachment point, (IE the frame) or a lower control arm next to the frame, but you have to watch out for brake line, steering linkages and then you have front spoilers and such to contend with...

Then if you have a stick shift, you would be in better shape than having an automatic transmission, as you can cause damage to both of them if you are not careful... The automatic is more easy to do damage to...

Then when pulling it with the strap, your brakes will not be working a well as normal and your steering will be affected also...

So, to save a bit of money by not calling a tow truck, can turn into an expensive lesson if things are not done right...

But I am not going to say not to do it, just remember this is a volunteer board, and I am not there to see what you have to use and where you can or can not hook to...

Good luck if you try to tow it yourself.
