Audi Repair: acc ignitio wire location, avic x1, canbus

Question
QUESTION: Hi, i have an audi a4 2003 b6 model. I recently upgraded to an avic-x1 headunit but there is not switched wire which i believe is in the canbus. The only feature im really missing out on is when the headunit stays ON once you have turned OFF the ignition and only turns OFF once the key is fully removed from the barrel. Would using the acc -75x wire work? any advice would be appreciated. Thank You.

ANSWER: This is the same as OEM.  The radio stays on until you remove the keys.  At least it does in mine... Was it different in yours before?  Let me know,  Jan

QUESTION: Yes the OEM chorus without bose headunit did have this feature whereby it would only turn off once the key was fully removed from the barrel. But the aftermarket headunit that i have now installed turns off the moment i turn off ignition even when the key is IN the barrel. Thank you.

Answer
There is a permanent positive wire for the memory of the radio, an ignition-switched wire which is the wire that switches your radio on or off on most aftermarket radio's.  You cannot use an additional positive on this terminal because you would be back-feeding the ignition circuit through that connection.  So you would need to use diode protection etc.  Best ask an aftermarket radio installer how to connect this so that you do not generate wiring problems for yourself.  Unless the radio hass a seperate connection perhaps called acc, or the manual has made provisions for it, I'd be careful.  Let me know,  Jan
