Question
QUESTION: Hej i have a 96 2.8 quatrro manual and when in drive the transmission pops out of gear however when i turn the wheels left to right it pops back in and ican drive it for few feet until it does it again. i just had it a the trans shop and they said its something with awd however when they lifted the car and put it down, now it works fine the clutch is new and it shifts nice in every gear, when it pops out it grinds just a little. please help me with this strange case.

ANSWER: It sounds like your engine is moving a little, and this is affecting the position of your selecting lever.  Make sure the engine mounts are good, and that the gear selecting lever is correctly installed.  Let me know what you find,  Jan

QUESTION: well i checked and all mounts seam ok but the lever does not pop out its something iside the trans that pops out causing the car not to move

Answer
It does sound like there is a problem in the transmission.  Maybe a bent selector fork or a shaft is moving off a spline.  When you hear the grinding noise does it come from the transmission?  I would go after the noise and see where that leads you.  Let me know what you find,  Jan
