Audi Repair: Turbo boost pressure control, import specialist, audi a4

Question
Hi Jan,
I have a 2003 Audi A4 (1.8) with ~50k miles. I recently got it serviced and you were helpful in advising me.

Another question -- the repair shop said that a P0299 code came up (turbo boost pressure control) and that there is a crack in the intercooler crosspipe.

Thoughts on how much this should cost? Is it better to get this fixed at the dealer or another auto shop which may be cheaper? Any idea if this type of thing is covered under the extended warranty?

Thank you!

Answer
Not sure if any boost or turbo aspects are covered under extended warranty; check the fine print in the coverage.  It's unusual for the intercooler crosspipe to crack, normally the little T pieces fail, anyway I rarely get things fixed by a dealer anymore, I use a good import specialist who saves me significant money over dealer costs.  Let me know how you get on,  Jan
