Audi Repair: 2002 A4 1.8 Turbo Quattro, car mechanic, motor mechanism

Question
Hi Ja. Thanks for your time. I am an ex race car mechanic but am not highly skilled in the electronics end of cars!!!  My Audi's wipers will not sit down into the proper park position after some brutal ice and snow conditions where I was running the wipers at high speed.  I have the factory repair DVD which has not been very helpful and have pulled the blades off, cowling out and visually inspected all links, arms, "hinges" etc, and cannot discern a problem.  The wipers are siting at about 1/3rd the way up and when i push them down into park they cycle thru a "wipe" and sit back at position they started at.   Is there a "reset" or other electrical element to this situation?

Answer
Check the wiper pattern, is the pattern still correct?  If so, then the park position in the motor mechanism has been stressed somehow.  If the pattern is not correct, then the wiper arms can be repositioned on the pivots to correct the problem.  I do not believe you can re-set the park position, only a partial dismantling of the motor module to see if you can re-position the contacts or the cam that operates them.  Let me know, it may be aesier toi buy a used wiper motor...  Jan
