Audi Repair: Audi TT battery, audi tt, battery voltage

Question
My Audi garage says that it can't do a diagnostic until it changes my battery (my TT is now 5 yrs old).  They said they will charge me £94 (£214 incl new battery) to change it as a number of things have to be re-programmed - is this true.  It's in the garage today and feel under pressure with the money.  thanks

Answer
If the battery starts the car OK, and holds a charge then I do not think a new battery is needed to run the diagnostics.  Only if the battery voltage is low do the diagnostics fail, however at that point the car will not start.  And what are they going to re-program? Usually Audi programs the cars just fine.  It may be time to look for a second opinion, or another garage.
