ANSWER: I have to do the same thing on my '01 S4 with apb engine!  Looks like a very similar job to changing the O2 sensors.  There are two plugs behind the inlet manifold where the egt sensors plug in.  Let me know,  Jan

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: hi. jan had a look this morning if you follow inlet pipe Y shape  to where it merges into 1 look slightly to the left you will see a rubber dust cover concertina shaped. if you pull this up youll see the plug slightly to the right there is a10mm bolt holding the. sensor box on its easy to get at and change this is for bank 1. the bank 2 0ne is a little bit to the right of that. hope this helps. KEVIN

Answer
Thank you for your follow-up.  On later models I do not see the rubber dust cover, the plugs are visible when the plastic engine covers are removed, and they are seperate, not really in a box.  But we all learn as we look at different engine configurations and car models.  Thanks,  Jan
