Audi Repair: AUDI A8 1997, throttle position sensor, mass airflow sensor

Question
MY AUDI RUNS GREAT BUT IT HAS STARTED TURNING OFF AT THE TRAFFIC LIGHT AND I NOTICED THAT IT ONLY HAPPENS WHEN THE HEATER IS ON. I TOOK IT TOO THE MECHANIC AND HE RAISED THE IDLE A BIT AND CHANGED A COIL SENSOR OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. BUT IT DID IT AGAIN. DO U HAVE ANY IDEA. IT WILL START BACK UP AFTER A WHILE. IS IT A MODULE? WHICH ONE?

Answer
Manny,
Please turn off you caps lock ;-)
This problem can be due to a multitude of reasons, could be bad throttle position sensor (TPS), or bad Mass Airflow sensor (MAF) or just the idle control module.  If your mechanic said he turned the idle up a bit, get a new mechanic, this one doesn't know what he is talking about.  The idle speed is controlled by the idle control mudule which gets its signal from the Engine control system, and cannot be 'turned up'  Let me know what you find, Jan
