Audi Repair: Audi A6 2002 malfunction indicator light blinking, malfunction indicator light, loose connections

Question
On my 2002 Audi A6 3.0 quatro I just had the 80K mile service and replaced the timing belt (as was recommend by the dealer to have done by 90K miles) and drove my car home. The next day I started the car and before reaching the end of my driveway the malfunction indicator light was blinking and the car is running extremely rough. Obviously, I immediately returned home and haven't driven it. Unfortunately, today is Sunday and the Audi dealer is closed. Should I risk driving the car to them (30 miles away) or have it towed in? I don't want to risk additional damage. Thanks

Answer
You mention it is running very rough, did it make any strange sounds?  It sounds like perhaps an ignition pack has failed, the easiest thing to do is get the DTC codes read out by a friend or anybody with a VAG-COM.  Unless you have an idea what the problem is, I would not drive it 30 miles, since that could really mess things up.  Have a quick check under the hood for loose connections, failing that get the codes read out; the CEL (check engine light) on means there will be a code.  Let me know,  Jan
