Audi Repair: 1997 Audi A4 quattro, dip stick, audi a4

Question
The reverse just stopped working without any signs.  How do I check the transmission fluid?  I can't find a dip stick.

If it stopped working, checking the fluid at this stage may be a little late...  There is a dip stick, it is located near the firewall.  Reverse gear is notorious on these cars; does it start performing a little better when the engine warms up?  Let me know,  Jan
