Audi Repair: door switch V8 quattro, push button switch, salvage yard

Question
On the 1990 Audi V8 there is door open sensor a small push button switch mounted on the door frame behind all the door latches that the door pushes agaist when shut properly. the button broke of the one on my drivers side causing the dome light to stay on and the warning buzzer to sound when the car is put in gear. any suggestions on how to fix or replace the switch would be useful

Answer
First I would diconnect the wire so the buzzer doesn't go off continuously.  But then of course your interior light doesn't come on when you open the driver's door. There are a few of those cars parted out so I woulod get another button from a salvage yard, the dealer replacement item is likely expensive, but perhaps worth a call.  Normally these switches are held in with a single philips screw, but I am not 100% certain if this is the same on the V8.  Let me know,  Jan
