Audi Repair: dead battery and sub freezing temps, fuse box, radio code

Question
New sealed, no maintenance battery installed in August in my 2002 TT. Haven't driven the car since early December and went out tonight and not a drop of current...keyless entry does not work, courtesy lights do not come on, no buzzer when key is inserted and door is open. Placed a multimeter across the two posts and got 1.9 volts. I had no malfunction lights or indications it was not charging when I parked it. Don't think I left anything on (Could turbo oil recirc. pump stayed on?) . I would like to go jump it or trickle charge it but it has been very cold here for several weeks and I am afraid that the battery may be frozen and it will cataclysmically destruct if I try to send current thru it. I would take it into the house to warm it up but there is some type of current distributor/fuse box on top of it that I can not see how to get off or if it needs to come off to get the battery out. Plus then I lose the radio presets, window drop, engine management etc and will have to reset ....probably no big deal but if there is an easier/better way to charge or jump it pls let me know. Thanks

Answer
hello
It's possible that battery just went dead , because car was not used and temp. dropped to freezing. I will recommend  to remove battery and take it home before any charging begin. You may loose radio and windows, but do not worry . Radio code (most of the time ) is inside the manual , and windows you can set by yourself.
The fuse box on the top of battery - you can just lift it up. Most of them are on the hinge , so  it opens up (front lifts up). 1 bolt (13mm) holds the battery in the front, bolt has to be removed before pulling the battery.
If the battery is frozen , don't try to jump it ether - it may just blow up.
good luck           Greg
