Audi Repair: Engine Oil Consumption, oil consumption, changing oil

Question
Hi Greg,

I have question regarding the engine oil consumption in my A4 2005.5 2.0T. As you may know Audi suggests engine oil change every 10,000 miles. I have been changing oil at every 5k and now have 29K miles on the car! the problem is that for the third time in a row the engine light came on after 3800 miles since the last oil change and this have been a trend that keeps on occurring! the dealer checked the car and did not find any type of leaks! and says that Audi allows oil consumption up to 1 quart of oil per 1000 miles. Is this something common with Audis? should I be worried about it?

Answer
hello
It sounds crazy, but what's what it is. I have seen it on some Audis but not all. My 02 2.7T takes quart every 4-5K.
So , if there is no leaks do not worry about it.
check your car under if you see anything wet ,let the dealer know. Audi cut out on any oil leak problems (they do not want to fix them) unless customer complains about.
good luck                        Greg
