Auto Electronics: radio, dead radio and cigar lighter, blown fuses

Question
Hi,  I have a 2000 Honda Odessey and the radio and the cigarette lighter went out after plugging in an object.  I checked the only radio fuse I could find on the passenger fuse box and it was good.  I didn't find any cigarette lighter fuse in either four boxes.  can you help?

Thanks.

Answer
Hi Hyer,

OK so 2000 Honda Odyssey.  Radio and Cigar lighter went right after you plugged something into the cigar lighter port.  This is most definitely a Blown Fuse.  Below are the fuses that need to be checked and or replaced and their locations.

There are three fuse blocks that must be checked, i will outline each one individually and give you the fuse number and amperage.

Under Hood Fuse Block (Located on right side of Engine Compartment)

In this fuse block you must check fuse number 54 (manufacturers fuse diagram supplied with the vehicle owner manual) it is a 40 Amp Fuse.  This fuse controls power to the number 9 - 13 fuses on the passenger side fuse block (which control radio and cigar lighter functions)If this fuse is blown that explains why the radio and cigar lighter don't work, this is the main power in to the fuses controlling them.  Replace it if it is bad with another 40 amp fuse.

Driver Side Fuse Block (located below left end of dashboard)

Fuse number 8, it is a 7.5 amp fuse, controls power to front and rear (if equipped) cigar lighter ports.  Replace if bad.

Passenger side fuse block (Located behind the right kick panel near front door jam on the floor of front passenger area)

Fuses 9 (15 Amp), 10 (15 Amp) and 11 (10 Amp)
All control the Stereo System.  Check them and replace if bad, remember though these can be good if the blown fuse was the 40 amp in the engine compartment that i mentioned above.

I think your problem lies in the 40 amp fuse in the engine compartment, as that would be the likely fuse that would blow.

Check this and let me know how you make out.  If all fuses are good we can go further into the diagnostic process.

Thank You
