Auto Electronics: power windows, Windows, Power windows

Question
none of my windows work

Answer
Good Afternoon Adam,

I'm AJ and him going to be doing my best to assist you with your problem.  I will need the year make and model of your car.

Generally when anything electrical in your car stops working the first thing that needs to be checked is the Fuse box(s# in the vehicle for blown fuses.  If you are unsure where the fuse boxes are you can check the owners manual for your vehicle.  Generally with most cars there is a fuse block located in the engine co,compartment and sometimes another one in the inside of the vehicle under the dashboard where the drivers feet go or in that general area.

The fuse block is easily identified by the black cover on it with a picture of a fuse or a little lightning bolt symbol.

If you are unable to find it, please let me know and i will assist you further with that.

Once you located the fuse block#s# you will want to check them to make sure they are all good.  You can easily tell if a fuse is good by looking at it, if it is bad the metal linkage in the middle will be broken, if it is good the metal linkage will be intact.

I would recommend checking the fuses first.  Also in the owners manual there is usually a section on fuses, you can find it in the index in the back of the manual under fuses.  This usually has a diagram showing the fuses positions and what they control, find the ones that say power windows or driver and passenger windows, remember there may be more then one fuse labeled for windows.

Also if the owners manual does not have this diagram or if you don't have your manual #used cars often don't have them# some vehicles have the diagram on the underside of the fuse block#s)cover (the black plastic cover that covers the fuse block(s).

Let me know how you do with the fuses and if they are all good, if they are and they windows still do not work we can get further into diagnosis, but we should start with this first as it is the easiest to fix and most often the problem.

Good Luck =)
