Auto Electronics: 86 trans am headlights, wiring diagrams, trans am

I have an 86 trans am. The only problem i cant figure out is the headlights. When they are turned on they dont come up but can be cranked up by hand but when i turn them off they will shut by themselves I think it is a relay can you help me? they have electric motors

Sorry Chris, I do not have a wiring diagram for your vehicle. I have found wiring diagrams for 87 through 91 Firebird, but they are not the same as the 86. The newer models used a module to control the system, while yours is controlled by relays. More than likely the motors are good if they will close. As you suggested a relay or its control circuit is probably at fault. Without the diagram we are just guessing. You might be able to find one online, if you dig. Don.
