Answer
FIRST, I need to knoe IF the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT on the dash has ever illuminated prior to this problem ?.

Are you POSITIVE that you have the RED wire in the slot in the distributor cap marked BATT of which the PINK wire from the electrical harness plugs into ?.

Are you POSITIVE that you have the WHITE wire in the slot in the distributor next to the RED wire of which the TAN/BLACK wire from the electrical harness plugs into ?.

Are you POSITIVE you have the BLACK ground wire on one of the coil hold down screws ?.

Did you check to be sure that the TAN/BLACK wire that attaches to the white wire is not shorted in the electrical harness ?. Disconnect the electrical connector that has the TAN/BLACK wire from the distributor and make sure that it is not grounded using an ohm meter.
