Cadillac Repair: Running hot, head gasket problems, radiator hose

Question
We have a 1998 Cadillac STS. We are having problems with this car running hot! We have replaced the thermostat, radiator hose, and the water pump! Nothing seems to be wrong with the reservior or the radiator. What other things can be wrong with this car? Can the radiator be clogged up?

Answer
Hello,

I answer these issues every week. You cannot run a Cadillac engine hot. As you are you are destroying the engine!!!! These had head gasket problems, fan problems, cracked blocks. This is what happens with an aluminum engine compared to a cast iron.

The cooling system may not be circulating, the radiator could be plugged. You need to have this engine serviced now and pray that you have not done irreversible damage. Very common for me to see where one of these turns into a $4,000 engine job.

As I have said. I love Cadillacs, but I also know them very well. They are a nice car until you run into a problem like you have and then they are money pits!!

I guess that is why I just sold my last Caddy before I had an over heating problem and bought a used Chevy truck.

Good Luck!
