Cadillac Repair: oil pressure light, chevy engine, cadillac deville

Question
My 2000 cadillac deville is showing the oil pressure light. I was never warned about low oil until I started it the next morning and it sounded like the oil was low. I added oil and the dipstick is showing that the oil was added. However the oil pressure light is still on and the car still sounds like oil needs to be added. Please help! What could be the problem and would it hurt for me to drive it to a shop that is about 15 miles away.

Answer
Hello,

The reality is that the oil pressure light does not come on until it is too late. If the engine is noisy, you already have internal problems in the engine. Do not drive the car. Have it towed! Hopefully the engine is not junk.

North stars are not a good engine of course Cadillac has not made a good engine since 1981.

I have a love hate relationship with Cadillacs. I compromised with the wife that wants a Caddy. She is getting an Escalade witch has a chevy engine. The cars look great and ride great, but they are a money pit as you are about toxins out.

Don' t drive the car or even start the engine.

I hope the problem turns out as minor.
