Answer
Hello,

Cadillac has certain inherent problems and this is one of them. They have had this problem with the blower since the $80s and never seemed to fix it. I do not deal in codes, but just the symptom associated with either the blower running til the battery goes dead or not running at all.

The most common problem I ran across was a failed resistance module. It is not servicable and can only be replaced. Very, very costly at Cadillac--over $500!!!!

I have seen many of these Cadillacs with this problem over the years.

Many came into my shop with the slip shod fix, but it works. The only problem is that you will have only high blower. You could make different blower speeds with different switches, but that is a real pain in the butt.

Commonly, I say the resistor module bypassed by inserting a toggle under the dash leading directly to the blower.

I would suggest installing a toggle under the dash. Catch ignition switch power at the steering column. Insert a 20 amp fuse and run a wire to the blower motor. This way if you forget to flip the toggle, you won't have a dead battery.

I would not recommend this fix to a newr car, but if you replace the module for $500+, its just going to fail again.

Good Luck!
