Cadillac Repair: horn, lights will not shut off, gm cars, electrical skills

Question
hi
i have a 1984 eldorado birritz factory convertable mint condition today i started the car and the horn and headlights came on and did not shut off even after shutting off the ignition. i disconnected the battery and started again, start the car and the horn and lights come on. the car is equiped with a factory theft system and never gave me a problem before. this car is kept in a tempeture controlled garage. i do have electrical skills on gm cars. i took the light switch out to see if it shorted but the lights are still on the only way to shut them is to disconnect the battery and start again. what does the factory theft system look like and could that be the problem, can it be removed and still have normal operation of the lights and horn. i checked the firewall harness connection, fusable links,as well as any bad connections. this car is a show car with no (fake mechanics) touching it. thank you for your time hope you can help shawn.

Answer
Hello,

Everything is integrated so you are not going to bypass it. Pay the membership fee for http://www.alldata.com of like $30 and order the manuals on line for the car. The problem you may run into is that the converts were not made by caddy, but by a dealer in Texas at the time, so if there are some differences in wiring, you might be in trouble.

Don't feel bad, one of these days I will have problems with my 62K mileage 88'Allante convertible and that was made in Italy in 1988 and was discontinued in 1993.
