Cadillac Repair: engine heads, head gasket failure, bolt holes

i have a 97 cadillac Deville that the temperature kept rising and i replaced the thermostat and still had the problem and i was told it was a bad head because no water was showing up on the ground eleminating the waterpump and since then i have heard from several people that if it was a  bad head that the car wouldnt start and i would see white smoke and have no power.  I start the car almost everyday to keep the battery live and drive it around the parking lot of my apartments so i would like too know if i got a bad diagnosis and if there is any truth to the statments about not being able to start the car and white smoke.  Also I was told by someone to get a pressure check and check the waterpump housing.  I woul really appreciate your advise on the situation because my car has been sittin for about a year and i wanna know whats the best option.  Thanks

Yes, This particular engine does have head bolt problems that cause the head bolt threads in the engine block to strip out thus causing head gasket failure and this IS a very very common problem with this engine.

You will need to pull the heads, Drill out ALL the head bolt holes in the engine block and heli-coil the holes that you drilled out and replace the head gaskets and install ALL NEW head bolts.
