Cadillac Repair: 91 cadillac seville wiring problem, cadillac seville, fuse boxes

Question
i have a 91 cadillac seville and i beleave i have a wiring problem... im not a mechanic but i do have basic auto knowledge. i bought the car with the power locks not working. the horn either. now the light go on and off as they please and interior lights stopped working. trunk release button has also started to work only when it wants... how bad is this???

Answer
Hello,

The locks and dome are commonly on the same circuit, so you might only need a fuse. The trunk release however is on a switched circuit in which ignition has to be on in order to operate.

Look at your owners manual to determine how many fuse boxes are in the car and the location of the lock fuse.

You ask me how bad is this? I have no way of knowing without being at the car.

In the event that the problem is not a fuse, you will need to go deeper. I do have a Mitchell repair manual for a 1991 Cadillac and other vehicles I can sell. Most of the information can be understood by a layman. This has all the wiring schematics for your car and the trouble shooting as well.
