QuestionQUESTION: i own a 96 deville with 4.6 northstar. the problem i'm having is when i start and run the car for about 3 mins idiling,it stalls and wont start up for about another 3 mins. i can hear pump come on for 2 secs when i turn key to on position. so i start and run car for about 3 mins and i can hear fuel pump shutting down then car stalls. After that i wait 3 mins fuel pump is working again and car starts fine. this fuel pump is not even a year old. someone told me it could be crankshaft position sensors but those would throw a code along with a check engine. im not getting any codes for crankshaft sensors or no check engine, all i get is p1599(stall or near stall detected)No other repairs have been done on this car in the last 2 yrs. what would cause that plz help
ANSWER: You could either have a faulty:
fuel pump.
oil pressure sender.
ECM computer.

QUESTION: i asked earlier bout the 96 deville stalling problem u said could be faulty fuel pump,oil pressure sender or ecm. whats the difference between oil pressure sender and oil pressure switch and if something was wrong with oil pressure the light would come on...not getting a light....as for ecm or pcm. its new about a year old. so im leaning more towards fuel pump. but i thought a fuel pump is gonna work or its not. its been doing this bouth 3 months now
Answerwhats the difference between oil pressure sender and oil pressure switch ?. Nothing. they are the same thing. However the switch/sender has a dual contact (2 switches) inside so the oil light will not illuminate if the switch for the fuel pump is faulty and the oil light switch is OK.
I have seen brand new computers and fuel pumps that were faulty right out of the box or only lasted a few days, weeks, months.
You have to perform the test procedures to determine the faulty component.
