Cadillac Repair: 2000 Deville intermittantly stops running, crankshaft position sensor, issue sensors

Question
I have a 2000 Cadillac Deville that will stop running while
on the freeway, stopped at a traffic light, going 35MPH,
even stopped while backing up. The symptons are: Engine was
running but stopps and the battery light (the red one that
looks like a battery) is lit and the other backlit dash
lights are also lit but no other idiot lites are lit. The
engine will restart immediately but sometimes having to
crank the engine for perhaps 3 to 5 bursts of 5 seconds
each. The last time the engine tried to start but would
stumble then finally started. The biggest problem is I can't
duplicate it and as you know if it ain't broke it is very
hard to fix. Plus if you are as in your case not even near
the car it is even more difficult. Previously I checked for
OBDII codes and there none however today their 3 codes that
repeated for a total of six.
P0335 Crankshaft Position Sensor A circuit malfunction.
P0385 Crankshaft Position Sensor B circuit malfunction.
P0386 Crankshaft Position Sensor B CKT Range/Perf
I looked in the factory manual and no photo or instructions
as to where the Crankshaft Position Sensor is located or if
there two i.e A and B. Do you know where they are located
and if their are two and if this is really my problem?

Answer
Cadillac has had numerous problems with the 2 crankshaft sensors which have been redesigned twice and you need to install the latest issue sensors which are located next to the oil filter adapter plate.

There are several manufacturers RECALLS and TECHNICAL BULLETINS discussing these sensors and I STRONGLY suggest that you see your Cadillac dealer about POSSIBLY getting a FREE replacement of these sensors.
