Land Rover Repair: 99 LR Discover, coolant leak, followup note

Question
I have experienced problems with my LR where my fuel display will show low on fuel, however when I attempt to fill with gas, the nozzle auto shuts off as if the car is full, even if I manually hold the lock, the nozzle auto shuts off and often causes over spill (gas to run out onto my car).  I first thought it was the gas pump, but as I move from station to station it has become evident that it was my car and not the gas pump or the nozzle.

Can you suggest what I should repair vs. having to go back to LR? (Being I just spent 1k to repair a coolant leak:)

thanks

Answer
Hi Millie,

I am afraid you'll have to venture into the wilds of LR dealerhip repair again.  If your fuel gauge is incorrectly recording the level in your fuel tank, you'll have to have this carefully repaired by an experienced LR mechanic.  They'll most likely remove the fuel pump and examine the sender.  Most likely its the resistor in the fuel tank sender unit.

As for the repair bill, I would think it SHOULD be mostly labour and estimate $400 total.

Best of luck,

IF and when you have it repaired, please send me a followup note of how much it cost you.  thanks
