Cadillac Repair: Starter disabled, gm factory, casrs

Question
I have a 1998 cadilac deville and when i try to start it it says "starter disabled". What does that mean? do i need a new key? If so how much does that run for?

Answer
Hello,

It is the GM factory Anti-theft that has failed. This system does not prevent theft, but it does bother the owner when the car doesn't start. Bypass the system--it is junk and will just give you future problems.

Send an email to robo14@aol.com I will give you instructions.

You will need to install a starter disable swicth to prevent theft because if the car is stolen and you claim it under insurance, you will be denied because these idiots feel the car is "Unstealable." Yes, old casrs are stolen all the time.
